Visiting Katbe Textile Factory

Every Fragmenta edition begins in the field.

Our research for Qamīs led us to Katbe, one of Lebanon’s remaining textile manufacturers, where conversations with makers, technicians, and workers revealed the realities of contemporary textile production. Beyond the machinery and materials, these visits offered a deeper understanding of the knowledge embedded in manufacturing: the rhythms, skills, and decisions that rarely reach the finished garment.

Field Notes gathers these encounters as fragments of an ongoing research process, preserving observations that continue to shape the exhibition.
