We begin with fragments.

Traces of matter, memory, and ideas that carry the weight of time and travel across places and origins.

The Eastern Mediterranean has long been shaped by the movement of materials, techniques and ideas. Across its ports, workshops and trade routes, knowledge has travelled, adapted and endured, leaving traces in the objects, crafts and rituals of everyday life. Fragmenta researches, preserves and reinterprets these living traditions, ensuring they remain relevant through contemporary design rather than confined to history.

Fragmenta weaves these fragments into stories that move across time, place, and discipline. Each edition moves, evolves, and transforms while remaining guided by design, craftsmanship, sustainability, heritage, and respect. A fragment is not something broken but a spark, a connector between past and present, tradition and experiment, the intimate and the collective.

Sustainability is our cornerstone. We work with what exists, salvaged, preserved, and reimagined, resisting erasure and excess. Each fragment holds the potential of renewal, showing that continuity can be the most radical form of change.

Fragmenta brings together a growing community of makers, designers, architects, researchers, craftspeople, institutions and patrons whose practices converge through material culture.

To fragment is to reveal, to unsettle, to question, to reimagine. Fragments are not ends but beginnings, carriers of history, imagination, and transformation.
