About Nour

Nour Najem, co-creator and co-curator

Nour Najem, is a fashion designer, creative director, and social entrepreneur whose work reflects a deep rooted belief in design as a force for cultural and environmental transformation. Based in her native city of Beirut, she co-founded and is co-curating with FRAGMENTA: The Revival of Lost Forms alongside interior designers Guilaine Elias and Gregory Gatserelia. The project emerged from a personal and professional intersection: a desire to breathe new life into archival stone fragments, celebrate Levantine craftsmanship, and reimagine material value. Partnering with her family’s business, Najem Group & Co., one of Lebanon’s leading marble manufacturers, FRAGMENTA gives new life to discarded marble fragments, transforming them into unique, collectible pieces that reflect a commitment to circular design and heritage.

After graduating from Ecole Superieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode Beirut, Najem launched her eponymous fashion label in 2013, and her refined, architectural designs rooted in Levantine heritage quickly earned her international acclaim. Nour’s work was honored and selected by the STARCH Foundation and became a laureate of the V&A Jameel Prize, the International Woolmark Prize, and the Vogue Arabia Fashion Prize. In the same year, she founded Kenzah, a social enterprise that supports women artisans and preserves traditional craft practices. From 2017 to 2019, she served as Creative Director of L’Artisan du Liban, modernising Lebanese artisanal work for global markets.

In response to Lebanon’s compounding social, economic and healthcare crises, Nour founded Lebanon Needs in 2020, a grassroots initiative that provided essential healthcare aid to thousands across the country over a two-year period. In 2023, she joined Najem Group & Co. to lead strategic initiatives aimed at innovating design processes and sustainability, strengthening the company’s position in the design and materials industry.

With FRAGMENTA, Nour brings her journey full circle, bridging design, sustainability, and social responsibility in a project that honours both material and memory. Through blending the historical and modern aspects of Levantine artistry and cultivating stories rooted in craft, resilience and regeneration, Nour’s work continues to capture her respect and expertise in regional design and her anchoring to the rich Lebanese and Mediterranean culture and history from which she continuously draws inspiration.
