The story of the Najem family begins with Nicolas Elias Najem, who entered the world of terrazzo and stonework at a very young age in the 1920s. What began as a craft passed down from father to son has grown into a proud tradition—one that celebrates the art of transformation and the enduring beauty of natural materials. Guided by a deep love for the craft, the Najem family has spent decades turning stone into timeless works of art.

This legacy began passing from generation to generation when Nazih Nicolas Najem joined his father in the business on July 12, 1973. He later founded Najem Group & co. in 1981. Since then, the family-run company has earned a reputation for excellence, producing exquisite surfaces and intricate finishes for residential homes, government buildings, and commercial spaces—including banks, restaurants, and hotels—as well as sacred religious landmarks. Every project, whether local or international, reflects a steadfast commitment to precision, artistry, and a profound respect for the material.

Today, that same spirit lives on. Hala and Fadi Najem—an interior designer and an architect, respectively—now work hand in hand with their father, Nazih, just as he once did with his own. They are surrounded by a close-knit community of long-standing employees, all united by shared values and a deep pride in their craft.

True to its roots while looking ahead, Najem Group & co is taking bold steps to deepen its environmental responsibility. As part of the inaugural edition of FRAGMENTA, the company is unveiling its treasured collection of marble remnants—samples, offcuts, archives, and forgotten fragments gathered over decades—to a new generation of designers. Once by-products of past projects, these raw treasures are now being reimagined as collectible objects with both artistic and functional value.

Through this initiative, Najem Group & co continues to honor its legacy—not only by preserving craftsmanship and family values, but also by embracing sustainability and creativity for generations to come.
