About Guilaine
Guilaine Elias, co-creator and co-curator
Guilaine Elias is an interior architect and designer whose practice is rooted in a deep reverence for material, memory, and place. Born and based in Beirut, she is the co-founder and co-curator of FRAGMENTA: The Revival of Lost Forms alongside fashion designer Nour Najem and interior architect Gregory Gatserelia. The project emerged from Guilaine’s long-standing interest in the intersection of craftsmanship, sustainability, and cultural heritage. With a strong belief that design is a bridge between past and future, she saw in FRAGMENTA an opportunity to animate forgotten materials; transforming discarded fragments into contemporary objects that celebrate Levantine artistry, its preservation, and its circularity.
Guilaine holds a Master’s degree in Interior Architecture and a Specialized Master’s in Industrial Products and Craftsmanship. She began her career in prominent international architecture and design studios, where she developed a sharp eye for spatial storytelling and material integrity. Driven to chart her own path, she founded her eponymous studio, which focuses on bespoke residential and cultural interiors grounded in local narratives and artisanal techniques. In 2021, she co-founded Éditions Levantine, a design studio dedicated to reinterpreting Levantine craft traditions through modern, collectible design pieces.
With FRAGMENTA, Guilaine’s journey comes full circle. The project embodies her commitment to sustainable design and deep respect for Levantine heritage. By honoring both time-honored craftsmanship and contemporary forms, her work seeks to preserve the essence of regional traditions while cultivating new dialogues around material, identity, and memory. Through FRAGMENTA, she works to reclaim the overlooked beauty of salvaged materials and their reinvestment with meaning and purpose. Each object tells a story;not just of revival, but of reinvention, bridging ancestral craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. Her approach is both intuitive and research-driven, creating spaces and objects continually inspired by the layered richness of the Levantine culture that shaped her.
